The Kano state Governor, Dr Abdullahi
Ganduje, on Friday, donated 100,000 blankets for distribution to
Internally Displaced Persons through the Borno State Governor, Kashim
Shettima.
Ganduje, while making the donation, assured Shettima that Kano would remain sympathetic to the plight of IDPs in Borno.
The distribution of the relief materials was held at Dalori IDPs camp, Maiduguri, on Friday.
The Kano governor, Ganduje, said as part
of his intervention programmes, N20m would be given to Borno IDPs,
adding that the token would help in providing some materials for them.
He said, “We are in Maiduguri with a
special message from our state, a message of sympathy for the people of
Borno State. We are all praying for enduring peace in the land, as we
are witnessing the dying period of insurgency.”
In his remarks, Shettima commended the
Kano State Government for the kind gesture, emphasizing that “we are
grateful for what Kano has been rendering to us through all these
troubled times of the menace of insurgency.”
