At a question and answer session in Abuja, Mahmood Yakubu, INEC executive, declared that following an appraisal of the 92 ideological groups in Nigeria, the commission chose to re-register 74 of them.
He said the influenced gatherings neglected to meet the criteria accommodated by segment 225A of the 1999 Constitution (as altered) which include: "rupture of any of the necessities for enlistment as a gathering, inability to succeed at least 25 percent of the votes cast in one state in a presidential political race or 25 percent of the votes cast in one neighborhood government region, and inability to succeed at least one ward in a Chairmanship political race, one seat in the national or state get together political decision or one seat in a councilorship political race".
Before the finish of its appraisal, INEC said just 18 ideological groups endure, including one enlisted after the decisions and another that got a court request to abstain from being deregistration.
