Mexico Returns Ancient Sculpture Stolen From Nigeria

The government of Mexico has conveyed to Nigeria on Tuesday an old bronze figure which was seized while being unlawfully traded into their nation.

The figure, from the sixth century southwestern Yoruba city of Ife, shows a man wearing woven jeans and a cap, sitting with his legs crossed and holding an instrument.

"Authorities from the National Institute of Anthropology and History discovered that it was a bit of Yoruba source," Diego Prieto, leader of the office, told a question and answer session.

"A lovely bronze piece, and that being of Nigerian legacy, it should come back to its home."

Authorities didn't offer more insights regarding the model's definite birthplaces or the conditions of its seizure.

"It was likewise confirmed that it had been unlawfully sent out," the Mexican remote service said.

Nigerian Ambassador Aminu Iyawa recognized crafted by the Mexican experts in recuperating the model.
