Tribal And Religious Politics Frowned At By NPC

The Nigeria Peoples Congress (NPC) in Kogi State has urged politicians to shun ethnic and religious politics which are capable of causing disunity and chaos as the country gears up towards another general elections.


The new Chairman of the party, Alhaji Mohammed Aliyu, who made the call yesterday on assumption of office, noted that the unity and progress of the country must be accorded priority far and above selfish interests.


Alhaji Aliyu said the NPC was the only party that was committed to the ideals of Nigeria’s founding fathers such as Alhaji Ahmadu Bello, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Alhaji Tafawa Balewa, Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Alhaji Aminu Kano by pursuing populist welfare programmes that would meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people.

While expressing optimism that NPC would emerge victorious in future elections in the state, Aliyu urged the people of Kogi to identify themselves with the party by becoming members.
