The TV star, who plays Alfie Moon on the BBC soap, revealed how a two-week holiday turned into his "worst nightmare".
Shane, 54, had booked the trip with his family and in-laws to enjoy a stay at Mexico’s five-star Moon Palace Resort.
Speaking to The Sun, the actor said: "It was the holiday from hell. I was recommended the five star resort. It cost thousands.
"It was supposed to be a holiday of a lifetime. I was taking my in-laws for 17 nights. It was my worst nightmare. It was f*****g horrendous. I got spanked by them."
Shane added: "At just 10.30am in the morning we were all sat by the luxury pool and there was a DJ on the drum and bass.
"They didn’t mention that in the programme when we were booking it. Loads of things happened."
The soap star, who recently returned to EastEnders, revealed how he cut his appearance on the show short after booking the trip.
"I had the holiday booked and the dates were clashing. The day after I filmed I left the country to go to Mexico."
A spokesperson for Thomas Cook said: "We always want our customers to enjoy their holidays so we’re disappointed Mr Richie didn’t like the hotel he asked us to book for him.
