ANNA Windass Shocked Viewers When She Made A Return To Coronation Street.

Anna Windass returned to Coronation Street during the latest episode where she teamed up with son Gary to get revenge on Pat Phelan......
Whilst Debbie Rush's character immediately went in search of Phelan after it was made clear that Gary had told his mum about his kidnap and revenge plan before it took place, viewers watching the scenes unfold at home shared their confusion about how Anna managed to get out of prison.

"How did Anna get out of prison?! #Corrie," asked one fan on Twitter.

Another user shared on the social networking site: "Anna is out of prison? But how?"

Believing that Anna was on the run again, a different account shared: "Has Anna escaped from prison again #Corrie."

"Loved Corrie tonight but how did Anna get out of prison I’m glad she’s out though hope it’s her who gets to get Phelan #Corrie," came the response from a fourth Twitter user.

Sharing their own theory, a different soap viewer tweeted: "I'm guessing that Gary must have visited Anna in prison (which wasn’t shown) and told her he had captured #Phelan and where he was holding him... then Anna was released from prison and knew exactly where to go ? #Corrie @itvcorrie

Amid the speculation, Anna's return to Weatherfield has been explained.

Anna was initially sentenced to five years in prison on the charge of GBH when she was framed for pushing Seb Franklin off a ladder by Phelan.

However, as Phelan's shocking and violent crimes were finally exposed following his showdown with Eileen Grimshaw, Seb and Faye set up the Free Anna Windass Now campaign on the basis they had proof that Phelan had set her up.

Whilst viewers weren't given any updates about whether or not their campaign was successful, it became clear that Anna was exonerated for the crime.
