The Administrator, Central Hospital Sapele, Sapele local government
area of Delta state, Mrs. Caroline Azegbo, is in trouble over alleged
falsification of her personal credentials, Sahara Reporters has learned....
According to an impeccable source in the hospital, the development
led to the withholding of Mrs. Azegbo's monthly salary for over five
months last year.
However, it was gathered that the payment of the salary was
restored after some officials in charge were compromised by the hospital
administrator with the assistance of the chairman, Delta State Hospital
Management Board, Olanrewaju Odidi and the Secretary, Hospital Service,
(SHS), Mr. Ebo Keseme Daniel.
Speaking with SaharaReporters in confidence, a management staff of
the Hospital Management Board, (HMB), who pleaded for anonymity,
revealed that the administrator falsified some of her official
credentials including her age.
"By now Mrs. Azegbo would have been sacked because of the
criminal offence of falsification, but she has turned a demigod
following the backing given her by the chairman, Delta State Hospital
Management Board, Olanrewaju Odidi and the Secretary, Hospital Service,
(SHS), Mr. Ebo Keseme Daniel. Apart from other official documents, she
falsified her age from all available records - her bank account, school
and civil service records.
"A screening was carried out on her by Hackerbella, which is
responsible for the screening of Delta state civil servants and it was
discovered that Mrs. Azegbo falsified some of her official credentials
including her age because the dates of birth on her bank account, school
and civil service records were completely different.
“Following this criminal discovery, her salary was sized for
over five months late last year, 2017. But sadly, instead of being
sanctioned, Mr. Ebo Keseme Daniel, Secretary Hospital Service, and the
chairman, Delta State Hospital Management Board, Olanrewaju Odidi as
usual, used their influence and compromised the system to cover up for
her and as we talk, all salaries has been fully paid to her," our source disclosed.
According to the management staff, the Secretary, Hospital Service,
Mr. Ebo Keseme Daniel, who is in charge of posting and transferring of
hospitals administrators, is also deeply involved in corrupt practices
especially in the receiving of monthly kickbacks from the administrators
of the central hospital Sapele, Ughelli and other hospitals across the
state.
During a visit to the central hospital, Sapele, our correspondent
learned that the administrator is not a respecter of staff of the
hospital as victimization, bullying and high handedness are her
watchword.
A nurse in the hospital who does not want her name mentioned
lamented what she called highhandedness of the hospital administrator
adding that, "Sometimes in January, this year, one Efe Iyanu, an
ally of Mrs. Azegbo, assaulted a staff, Lewis Oghueh, while the
Medical Director of the hospital, Peter Edevbie, watched helplessly as
he could not do anything for fear of the hospital administrator.
"Following the ugly scenario, the Director Hospital Service,
issued a query to Mr. Edevbie, who then hurriedly set-up a five man
administrative panel to investigate the matter. The panel led by Mr.
Aragbah, recommended punitive action of two steps, demotion and transfer
for Mrs. Azegbo, who ordinarily should face outright dismissal for
bringing a third party to assault a staff, in order to serve as a
deterrent to others.
"But unfortunately, Secretary Hospital Service, Mr. Ebo Keseme
Daniel, in his usual manner, stood his ground and warned that the
recommendations of the panel on Mrs Azegbo should not be implemented and
also went a step ahead to transfer some top hospital management staff,
who they perceived to have opposed the hospital administrator in the
whole fracas.
“The high handedness of Mrs. Azigbo who has the backing of the
Secretary Hospital Service, Mr. Ebo Keseme Daniel and chairman, (HMB),
Olanrewaju Odidi is causing serious industrial disharmony at the Central
Hospital Sapele, where she can transfer any staff or uses her ally to
harass anyone who disobeys her command. We call on governor Okowa and
the Health Commissioner to intervene and investigate the allegations
against Mrs Azegbo", the Nurse cried out.
As at the time of this report, all calls and messages put to Mrs. Azegbo and Mr Odidi were not answered.
On his part, Mr Daniel, neither confirms nor denies the allegations, but boasted that, "I
am not bothered, nothing anyone can do to me because I know where I
have my connections. And please never call this my line again."
