The Hangzhou Intermediate People's Court also deprived Qian Caigui, 50, of his political rights for life.
In 1993 and 1994, Qian attacked and raped two single women in Chun'an district of Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang, causing the death of one victim and injuring another, the local procuratorate said. Qian was sentenced to prison for six years in 1984 for molesting women multiple times.
A manhunt for the suspect was launched, but he managed to evade police by staying anonymous in Zhejiang and Anhui provinces. In early 2017, local police finally found traces of the suspect with DNA samples.
Qian did not appeal against the sentence in court.
