But what makes a perfume so unique and luxurious? The rarity of the raw materials and the purity of the oils will make the perfume’s value.
For example OUD (Oudh), which is one of my favorite raw materials, and not surprisingly one of the most expensive ones. It is often sold for $7.000 dollars per pound.
Just so you can understand why Oud is so expensive, let me show you some info about it.
“When the wood becomes infected with a particular type of mold, the tree reacts by producing a dark, scented resin, which is often called “liquid gold.” “Oud” is used to refer to both the resin-saturated wood (the agarwood) as well as the oil distilled from it.” source:fortune.com
To create a luxury perfume, there are “timeless” working hours of mixing different scents and trying to find which one of those will turn to a unique fragrance.
Those perfumes are also made of the most pure concentration of oils termed Eau de Parfum and Extrait. Their oil concentration usually reach more than 10% to as high as 20%. Different from an Eau de Toilett that has only 5-8% of those oils.
That means, you will feel more of the fragrance for longer because of the richness of those essences.
I made a list of my favorite ones, starting with my favorite that I current use myself. (website’s product description)
Maison Francis Kurkdjian – Oud Satin Mood
OUD satin mood Transported by the finesse
of the violet accord, oud wood from Laos curls on contact with the rose
essence from Bulgaria and the rose absolute from Turkey before softening
when it encounters the rich vanilla-scented amber accord.
Clive Christian – X for Men
Kilian – Incense Oud
Creed – Aventus
Introduced in 2010-and crafted by the deft hand of Olivier Creed, sixth-generation master perfumer, in collaboration with his son, Erwin-Aventus is inspired by the dramatic life of a historic emperor who waged war, peace and romance with equal magnitude (always riding on horseback to victory).
TOM FORD – Soleil Blanc
TOM FORD’s latest private blend creation
unapologetically exudes the endless pursuit of sun and luxury that
defines TOM FORD Soleil.
Bond No. 9 New York – Bond Silver
We conceived of Silver Bond as a smooth, smoky, spicy blend of interlacing incense (a key scent of the ’60s), wood resin, and syrupy, seductive amber.
But just to complicate things, we gave it a heart of jasmine, iris, and violet, a scent that we are especially fond of.
These slightly
dissonant florals combine to evoke a metallic effect that of warmed-up,
molten silver, and then, for the merest hint of coolness, we threw in a
handful of cedarwood.
Giorgio Armani – Rose D’Arabie L’Or Du Desert
Gold flecks rise and swirl like a veil of sand, shimmering down the transparent glass walls and rippling like desert winds.
Rose D’Arabie ‘L’or Du Desert’ edition leaves a delicious trail on the skin and wraps it in a subtle golden veil. A magical fragrance that captures the spirit and soul of the desert.
Dolce & Gabbana – Velvet Desert Oud
The fragrance opens on a heady wave of incense, almost as if to forewarn: incense is the quintessential perfume of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern lands, intoxicating, permeating and seducing, with no hesitations.
A call to action heralding the rich smoky tones of the dark wood and mysterious deep amber notes that follow. Perception dissolves in the final celebration of the soft musky notes, leaving the hot, heady aroma of a successful conquest lingering on the skin.
Jo Malone London – Cologne Intense Oud & Bergamot
Dior Eau – Sauvage Parfum
With a distinct, natural style, Eau Sauvage Parfum exudes a dark, elegant magnetism that is sure to mesmerize.
It is inspired by oud wood, a natural material that is amongst the rarest and most expensive in perfumery. fragrancex coupon
