Deputy Senate
President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, and the immediate past governor of Kogi
State, Idris Wada, have offered to support University of Abuja (UniAbuja) in
its quest to become the leading university in Nigeria....
The duo made the pledge recently when they visited
the main campus of the university located in Gwagwalada Abuja, to personally
collect their degree certificates.
While Ekweremadu was in the university to collect
his PhD certificate in law, the Kogi ex-governor was there to collect his first
and second degrees certificates in business administration.
Senator Ekweremadu, in his remarks, appreciated the
university for its uniqueness in imparting quality education and promised to
support it as his way of giving back to the institution that made it possible
for him to realize his educational ambition.
He urged the university authorities not to hesitate
to approach him with problems that need legislative solution so he could
mobilize his colleagues in the Senate to urgently attend to them.
Similarly, the erstwhile Kogi governor who also
visited the university for the same purpose commended the management for
uplifting and restoring the lost glory of the institution and for transforming
it from a massive farmland to an impressive outlay of structures suitable for
the pursuit of academic endeavours.
He confessed that the university had imparted into
him a lot of knowledge that helped him to pilot the affairs of Kogi during his
tenure as the chief executive officer of the state.
He promised the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Michael Adikwu, that he would always be
available to serve the university whenever his service is needed as part of his
contributions as an alumnus committed to developing his alma mater.
