Drama In Enugu As Gov't Orders The Immediate Suspension Of Two Monarchs

As indicated by The Nation, the Enugu State government has requested the prompt suspension of two conventional rulers in the state. 


They are HRH Igwe Bernard Nwoye, customary leader of Akwuke Autonomous Community and HRH Igwe Cyprian Ekwomchi, the conventional leader of Akwuke Uwani Autonomous Community. 

An announcement by the Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Prof Simon Ortuanya said the suspension is a spin-off of the breakdown of lawfulness in the two networks of Enugu South Local Government Area. 

He further clarified that the suspension is for 30 days in the primary example. 

Their suspension was likewise connected to a mass dissent by the indigenes of the two networks to the Enugu Government House, "combined with a request against the conventional rulers by Mr. Oliver Edeh, National President Akwuke Town Union, and Engr. 

Chibuzor Ngene, President General Akwuke Uwani Town Union. 

The petitions were for themselves and in the interest of the individuals of Akwuke and Akwuke Uwani Autonomous Communities. 

The administration proclamation clarified that the suspension of the conventional rulers was in light of a legitimate concern for harmony, request, and great administration. 

The SSG noticed that the activity is in consistence with Section 10(b) of the Traditional Rulers Law, Cap 151 Revised Laws of Enugu State, 2004. 

A managerial inquiry is to be set up by the State official for Chieftaincy Matters in regard of charges against the influenced conventional rulers.
