Mexican-American Ruiz delivered probably the greatest bombshell when he ousted the already undefeated world heavyweight champion with a seventh-round stoppage at New York's Madison Square Garden in June.
"It wasn't burnout. The issues I looked in the last camp, it's simply down to absence of experience," he told BBC. "Despite the fact that it was at a significant level, we were all the while discovering experience.
