Lagos Lawyer Arraigned Over Alleged N3m Fraud

The police in Lagos State on Wednesday charged a 50-year-elderly person, Eric Okolo, who supposedly swindled two people of N3 million. 


Okolo, who lives at Ikoyi, Lagos, is confronting a two-check charge of misrepresentation and taking before an Ebute-Meta Magistrate's Court. 

He, be that as it may, argued not blameworthy, NAN reports. 

The Prosecutor, Insp. Chinalu Uwadione told the court that the litigant submitted the offenses on Jan. 15, 2009, at the Ojo territory of Lagos. 

Uwadione said that the litigant gathered N1 million from Chief Azubuike Ekwerekwu and N2 million from Mr. Christopher Iloabanafo for legitimate administrations he neglected to render. 

"The legal counselor duped Ekwerekwu and Iloabanafo by gathering N3 million from them on the appearance that he would deal with their cases," the investigator said. 

Uwadione affirmed that the litigant changed over the cash to his own utilization. 

"All endeavors made by the complainants to recover their cash demonstrated unsuccessfully," he said. 

As per the examiner, the supposed offenses negate Sections 287 and 309 (9) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. 

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 accommodates three years' prison term for taking. 

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. A.O. Komolafe allowed the respondent bail in the whole of N1 million with two sureties in like total. 

Komolafe said that the sureties must be beneficially utilized and have proof of duty installment to the Lagos State Government. 

She deferred the case until Jan. 21, 2020, for notice.
