Popular Nigerian Poet, Ikeogu Oke Dies Barely A Year After Winning $100,000 NLNG Prize For Literature

Eminent Nigerian writer and victor of the NLNG Prize for Literature, Ikeogu Oke is dead. 


The writer kicked the bucket in Abuja on Saturday night after an undisclosed infirmity, as per Punch. 

His passing is coming scarcely a year after the writer increased across the country distinction a year ago when he won the 2017 Nigeria Prize for Literature for his book, 'The Heresiad', a book of epic verse. 

The perished was given a check of $100,000 (N37m) by the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Company Limited. 

Oke's gathering of lyrics entitled, The Heresiad, beat Ogaga Ifowodo's A Good Mourning, Tanure Ojaide's Songs of Myself: Quartet to guarantee the prize after an escalated arbitration process. 

His companions have taken to Facebook to grieve his death.
