Uncovering this in an announcement in Abuja on Friday, the Minister of Interior, Lt Gen. (rtd) Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau expressed that the laws setting up open
occasions are contained in the Public Holidays Act of 1979, which expresses that, "The days referenced in the Schedule to this Act will be kept as open occasions all through Nigeria."
The clergyman encouraged all Nigerians independent of their Organizations, Institutions or affiliations to guarantee they obey and watch all occasions pronounced by Government, adding that as indicated by the Act,
"no individual will be compellable to do any follow up on multi-day named by or under the arrangements of this Act to be kept as an open occasion which he would not be compellable to do on a Sunday".
He included that Government would not waver to endorse any Organization, Institution or connection that denies Nigerians the privilege to watch their occasions as given in the Act by a "fitting expert".
