The Northern Ireland manager was banned from driving for 16 months – reduced to 12 months on successful completion of a rehabilitation scheme – and fined £1,300.
O’Neill, who resides in the Scottish capital, was found to be three times the Scottish drink-driving limit when he was arrested at around 12.55am on Sunday September 10.
His counsel, Mr James Mulgrew described it as “a bad error of judgement”.
The 48-year-old, who led Northern Ireland to the finals of Euro 2016, is currently preparing for a World Cup play-off against Switzerland.
O’Neill’s side will be home for the first leg on 9 November with the away leg in Basel three days later.
Northern Ireland are aiming to qualify for their first World Cup since 1986.
