Playing at focus back or left-back, Austin showed up for the Welsh club somewhere in the range of 2004 and 2008 and won seven tops for Trinidad and Tobago.
Austin helped Swansea win advancement from League Two of every 2005, lift the 2008 League One title and the 2006 Football League Trophy.
He had been getting treatment since being determined to have malignant growth in 2017.
Swansea City said in an announcement: "The Swans have been in contact with Kevin's family, who wished to pass on that the club dependably had an extraordinary place in his heart.
"They needed to thank everybody for their benevolent words and support, yet have asked for that their protection is regarded at this tragic time."
Austin started his Football League profession with Leyton Orient, having moved from non-League side Saffron Walden Town in 1993.
He shown up for both the Os and Lincoln, who he participated in 1996 and helped win advancement from the Third Division.
