The National Emergency Management (NEMA), has declared 5 additional states: Adamawa, Taraba, Kebbi, Bayelsa and Rivers as ‘National Disaster’ following the recent flooding that has ravaged the states.
Mr. Sani Datti, Head of Media and promotion, NEMA created this known during a statement on a weekday in the capital of Nigeria.
According to Datti, Mr. Mustapha Maihaja, Director General, NEMA created the declaration following the continued efforts of the agency to tackle and assist flood victims across the country.
He came that the declaration of the 5 new states currently puts the numbers of flood-affected states underneath flood emergencies to 9.
“It would be recalled that on Sept. 17, a National Disaster was declared in Kogi, Niger, Delta, Anambra States.
“In the thought of the information and knowledge being received, specifically the Preliminary injury Assessment (PDA) and guided by relevant NEMA Policy documents, further five states square measure determined to own been compact severely by the disaster.
