The label is famous for its high-quality leather, which here was waterproof and soft—and treated with a printed raw denim effect. For the first time, such fabrics as wool and moleskin were introduced. Outerwear obviously took pride of place: parkas, aviator and military jackets, piuminos, and car coats made the lineup. A few suits were presented, and classical staples were refreshed with modern proportions, balancing the sporty lexicon the label stands for with an urban, polished vibe.

Incontri has a background as an architect, so he definitely understands construction. Volumes were kept relaxed and roomy, to allow for layered styling; shapes were precise yet soft; and colors, in shades of mustard, licorice, ocean blue, and slate gray, were luminous with a washed-out effect. What is expected of Tod’s are great pieces for the everyday, updated with a modern, intelligent hand, their Italian flair kept well intact. Incontri understands that; he’s headed in the right direction.
