Chinese Ambassador to the United States Cui Tiankai on Wednesday says the development of Sino-US bilateral trade is beneficial to both sides and the two nations should work together to solve any trade imbalance and other challenges...
Cui made the comment while addressing a traditional Chinese New Year gathering at the China General Chamber of Commerce–USA (CGCC) in New York.
The ambassador acknowledged the trade imbalance that exists in some sectors in bilateral trade, but states that imbalances not only exist between China and the US, but also elsewhere internationally, and even within the US soil. He said solutions can only be found by working together instead of pointing fingers at one another.
Addressing doubts as expressed by some about the achievements in Sino-US relations over the past decades, Ambassador Cui said the two sides have accomplished so much during the past years, and it would be "silly to question one's own success."
"Nothing would be more harmful than denying the huge potential and great prospects of building a strong and mutually beneficial relationship between us", Cui added.
Ambassador Cui Tiankai is among a group of VIP guests present at the CGCC Gala on Jan 17th in New York City.
Tung Chee-Hwa, Honorary Chairman of CGCC, Xu Chen, Chairman of CGCC, Stephen A. Schwarzman, Chairman, CEO and Co-Founder of Blackstone, Maurice R. Greenberg, Chairman and CEO of C.V. Starr & Co. Inc, and Marc Allen, President of Boeing International, also attended the event.
