World commercial egg production is setting record-breaking trends, and ten countries top the list for producing this breakfast time and anytime essential. China ranks highest in egg production at 5.6 billion kilograms of unprocessed, in-shell hen's eggs produced annually. According to the FAO, China's egg production, at a 2% compounded yearly growth rate, could reach a growth of about 34.2 million metric tons of eggs per year by 2020. The top egg-producing provinces in China are Henan, Shandong, Hebei, Liaoning, and Jiangsu.
