There were shocking scenes during the
Wimbledon men's
final as Marin Cilic burst into tears on his chair at a
set and a break down against Roger Federer.
There
were fears around Centre Court that Cilic had suffered an injury that
would end his dream of winning his first title at SW19 prematurely but
after the stricken Croat was comforted by the match referee and the
trainer, he was able to continue.
Federer
had stormed to the first set, after which Cilic slammed his racket on
the ground in despair, before the Swiss also comfortably won the second
6-1. Federer sealed a record eighth title, taking the third 6-4.
