Senate Passes Peace Corps Bill

The Senate on Tuesday finally passed a bill to make the Peace Corp of Nigeria which is being run on a voluntary basis a government agency to be run as a Para-military organization.

The Senate and the House of Representatives had separately passed the bill last year.
But the Bill later suffered a setback following the rejection of the harmonized version by the Senate.

The harmonized version of the Bill was passed by the Senate on Tuesday followed the adoption of a conference report on the bill its committee on judiciary, human rights and legal matters.

The Bill will now be sent to the presidency for harmonization.
