"I think about having children all the time': Naomi Campbell, 46, discusses her desire to welcome a baby 'with the help of science' as she recalls past addiction issues

interview with ES Magazine, admitting she longs to be a mother and
opening up about her experience as an addict
With her hands slung in her pockets, Naomi exuded confidence in the striking imagery from the revealing interview.
Naomi got personal while discussing her desire to become a mother, revealing that she wants to do it at her own pace.
‘I think about having children all the time. But now with the way science is I think I can do it when I want', she explained.

Quizzed whether she wants to have a baby herself rather than adopt, she replied, 'Maybe. Maybe... Maybe.’
Insisting she doesn't want to be a single mother, however, she said: ‘I do want a father figure. I think it’s important.’
Naomi opened up about her road to recovery with Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
She
explained: ‘People tried to shame me about the fact that I went to get
help. You should never feel shame because recovery is a positive thing.
'But when I first went, people were not open about this stuff. Everything like this should be talked about openly.
'Mental
health issues, postpartum depression — there are so many different
things. Come together and help each other, that’s important.’
Naomi
also discussed her love for Nelson Mandela - her friend, mentor and
adopted grandfather - revealing that the former President of South
Africa sparked her passion for charity.
'He was the one that made me consciously aware, because I wasn’t', she said.
'I
was aware to the extent that my mother used to take care of two kids in
Ethiopia when I was growing up. But other than that I wasn’t really. He
opened my eyes. I learnt a lot from him.’
Naomi is hosting her Fashion For Relief charity event in Cannes on 21 May, proceeds will be in aid of Save The Children.
