Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi the Executive Governor of Enugu State was yesterday bestowed
with the award of ‘Most Labour friendly Governor’ from the civil
servants in the state and another award from the organized labour[NLC]
in the state in view of his commitment to the welfare of workers amidst
the prevailing economic recession in the country.
The May Day celebration in
Enugu state, hits the event with awards instead of regrets; at Okpara Square. Governor Ugwuanyi who was present at the
ceremony thanked the Enugu state workers and the organized labour in
the state,stating the award will spur him to perform more in all sectors
including workers welfare.
While delivering his address, the state chairman of the Nigeria Labour
Congress[NLC], Comrade Virginus Nwobodo, said they deemed Governor
Ugwuanyi
fit for the award in view of his consistence with payment of workers’ salaries on or before the 26th day of every month, his administration’s feats in the prudent and transparent management of the Paris Club refund, especially the use of 100 % of the Local Governments’ share of the fund to offset the arrears of LG workers’ salaries and some pensions arrears owed pensioners in the 17 councils of the state.
