Harrowing video footage has emerged of a driver believed to be high on synthetic marijuana plowing into pedestrians at ferocious speed in Times Square before getting out of his car to fight passers by. The 50-second clip captures the driver, identified as 26-year-old Richard Rojas of the Bronx, hurtling down the sidewalk in his maroon Honda Sedan which is brought to an immediate halt by bollards.
Had the safety posts not been there to stop the speeding car, there were dozens of pedestrians just feet away on the other side who would have been mowed down in the deadly attack. Moments earlier, the crazed driver killed an 18-year-old girl from Michigan as his car careered along the busy sidewalk. Rojas was dramatically taken into custody on Thursday having seriously injured 22 others when he drove through crowds at the popular tourist destination.
