Cushnie et Ochs Spring 2018 Ready-To-Wear....Fashionweekly...On Fow24news.com

Frida Kahlo was a complex woman. She was a tough cookie to say the least; independent, fiery, even brash. But she was also sensual, unconventionally beautiful, and utterly feminine. This duality of strength and softness associated with the Mexican painter was the focal point for Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs’s latest collection......
The designers have built a successful business on their structured, cutout, body-con dresses, but they’re so much more than that, and this season’s diverse lineup proved as much. Thanks to the push and influence from Kahlo’s spirit, Cushnie and Ochs took a lighter—dare-we-say prettier—approach with their use of bright floral prints, ruffle accents, and airy silhouettes.
Despite the overall loosening up of the clothes, however, there was still sex aplenty. The first look down the runway was a corseted little black dress worn with embellished thigh-high mesh boots from the designers’ new shoe collection that debuted today. The slinky, barely-there slip dresses that followed also left little to the imagination and are sure to please any Cushnie et Ochs devotee. But the best handiwork this season came by way of several looks that harkened back to Kahlo. To wit, a flattering white ruffled dress could have ventured into campy flamingo garb but instead came out looking totally sharp. The same went for one of the closing pieces: an off-the-shoulder pastel yellow gown with puffed short sleeves and a not-too-tight fit. It had a dangerously high slit, too—just the right amount of risqué for a woman who knows exactly what she wants.
