It was revealed that the 23 year old, who became a fan favourite during his short time on the show, had left the villa "for personal reasons" but no further details were given.
Niall, who was paired with Georgia Steel on the ITV2 match-making programme, has not returned to social media following the shocking exit – but according to Coventry Live, one of Niall’s friends has given their view as to why they believe the star may have exited the villa.
It had been previously reported he’d undergone an otoplasty – ear pinning back surgery – back in May last year. It was one of the first things he brought up when the show launched.
His friend revealed: “Before he got his ears pinned back, if anyone wasn’t interested in him or made a joke, he’d assume it was about his ears and put a hat on for the rest of the day just to avoid people seeing.”
A source also revealed to MailOnline: “Niall left for personal reasons regarding himself only. He doesn’t deal well with stress or criticism, and would hate to have situations where he’s involved in conflict publicised.
“It’s an emotionally stressful environment and he over worries to the point where he gets stressed.
“Before he got his ears pinned back, if anyone wasn’t interested in him or made a joke he’d assume it was about his ears and put a hat on for the rest of the day just to avoid people seeing.”
Following his exit, his friends came forward and claimed they hadn't been able to get hold of him since the news broke.
It was later reported that even his family appear to have gone off the grid, as they have reportedly vanished from their home in Coventry.
According to Mirror Online, his family home has a letter pinned on the front door, which asks members of the media to contact ITV's press office with any questions, rather than them.
