Oyo - Ajimobi Sets To Complete The Ongoing Project By May 29, 2019

Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has assured of the completion of all ongoing projects in the state by the expiration of his administration on May 29, 2019.

Ranging from social and physical infrastructural projects to those in health, education and other sectors, Ajimobi avowed commitment to meeting the delivery time of those projects, which is before leaving office as governor.

Ajimobi sounded this assurance while inspecting the extent of work at Pediatric and Maternity Centre, Jericho, Ibadan, on Wednesday evening.

In showing commitment to delivering the various ongoing projects in the state to time, Ajimobi set a six months timeline for completion of the Jericho centre.

He described the Jericho centre as an integrated health service delivery centre meant to render qualitative services to address issues like tuberculosis, maternal and child mortality.

“We are known for modernising Oyo state; we are not only modernising the education sector but also the infrastructure, physical environment and more importantly, the health sector.

“We believe we should have an integrated health service delivery centre where we can have a Maternal and Pediatric centre, tuberculosis centre and all centres related to health service delivery.

We want pregnant women, children to have access to health hence this centre.

“We want to make this to be another UCH, so to speak, whereby everything here is integrated.

We must complete it in the next three to six months, at most, and we will open it, just like all the projects we are doing.

“We will work till we leave the office because that is what we are voted for.

We were not elected for seven years but for eight years of service delivery.

We are not a government that relaxes when it is one year left of its administration,” Ajimobi said.

Ajimobi was accompanied on the visit by Commissioner for Health, Dr Azeez Adeduntan; Permanent Secretary, Dr Oluwayemisi Iyiola; members of the state executive council; members of the State Hospitals Management Board, among others.

Similarly, state Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Toye Arulogun has allayed fears of members of the public about the delayed pace of some of the ongoing road projects in the state, assuring that the government would meet the deadlines of the road projects.

He pointed out the state government had addressed some of the hitches that delayed some of the projects.

“It is important that one of the legacy projects of Senator Abiola Ajimobi is infrastructural development, especially roads to facilitate economic activities, vehicular movement.

This is important because infrastructure supports development.

“The work is ongoing. Occasionally, there are hitches here and there, especially concerning road construction. There are many things that go into road construction.

But, I can assure of the government’s commitment to meet the deadlines as highlighted at the beginning of those road projects.

“Government has resolved the issues that were delaying some of the road projects, but they have been resolved. Wherever work has stopped, work will continue,” Arulogun said.
