to the next level. The first time their insane shape became apparent was when the 46-year-old put them on display at the February 2018 Oscars, where she rocked a stunning bright blue chiffon Atelier Versace gown with an asymmetrical neckline. Read on to find out the fitness and diet secrets that keep the actress supersculpted.
To prep for her role in the action-thriller Peppermint, Garner has been ultra focused on defining her arms, says her trainer Simone De La Rue.
"Recently, the focus [of our workouts] has been her shoulders, biceps and triceps," the fitness pro tells Us. "To play an assassin, she had to look strong and powerful yet still feminine."
Garner's workout of choice: Body By Simone, a dance and rebound-based workout created by celebrity trainer De La Rue. "I did it this morning, just so you know,
" the 13 Going on 30 star told Wired in March 2018. "It's a dance cardio, weights, trampoline, all kinds of different things, really fun, high energy, super hard, but you can do it, workout."
Garner, who is currently on the media circuit to promote her farm-to-family Once Upon a Farm organic baby food company, is vocal about her love of De La Rue’s workouts.
The Love, Simon actress even brought the Australian trainer with her to Hawaii to continue her workouts during her family getaway with ex-husband Ben Affleck and their three children.
"I'm supposed to be on vacation — what's @bodybysimone doing here?! Just joking— I'm so lucky!" Garner, who is starring in HBO's upcoming series Camping, captioned a video of the duo dancing away in a sun-filled studio on Instagram on July 9.
For those who can't afford to bring their trainer with them on vacay, De La Rue recently launched her BBS app, which lets clients stream her sweat sessions at home.
The actress swears by the body benefits of a healthy diet. She captioned a January 2018 Instagram video of herself making a smoothie recipe she learned from her nutritionist Kelly LeVeque:
“Don’t be scared! It’s tastier than it looks!” Along with Primal Kitchen Collagen Protein Powder (“I prefer the Chocolate Coconut Collagen Fuel,” she wrote),
Garner mixed in flaxseed, chia seeds, almond butter, fresh spinach and almond milk. As Primal Kitchen founder Mark Sisson tells Us Weekly, "Our collagen fuels are a deliciously nourishing way to support everything from joints, tendons and muscles to healthy skin, hair and nails."
While dancing is Garner’s go-to workout, throwing punches can also be credited for creating her enviable arms. She was seen leaving Santa Monica’s BoxUnion studio in January, while getting her body prepped for her role in the September 2018 action-thriller Peppermint.
But whatever workout Garner does, it has to make her feel good. “If you can find a workout that makes you smile, do it,” Garner advised fans in a March 2018 post.
“Watching the sun come up or dancing midday, I couldn’t do better on this #nationalworkoutbuddyday than you, @bodybysimone.”
De La Rue, who is also a trainer on Khloé Kardashian's fitness reality show Revenge Body, previously told Us, “the beauty about dance is it requires the whole body and it requires mental strength as well
— you’re learning coordination.” The fitness pro added, “With all of my clients, the moment that they’re in there working with me, we’re in there to work, we’re there to work hard.”
