According to alphr the 2018 lunar eclipse will take place on the evening of July 27.

The blood moon happens when the Earth crosses between the Sun and the Moon, which meant the Moon falls in the Earth’s shadow.

The upcoming cosmic display is tipped to be the longest in the 21st century, as it is expected to last for almost two hours.

The full eclipse is expected to start at 8.30pm – just before the moon rises at 8.49pm in London – the mid-point is slated to be at 9.21pm, which means the end of the total eclipse will happen at 10.13pm, the Royal Astronomical Society has stated.

Onlookers can watch the event take place anywhere.

However the view is weather permitting; on a clear evening the display will be more visible.

Those in Northumberland, Snowdonia, the South Downs and Exmoor are expected to have the best view of the blood moon.

However, any open space is also a great viewing spot.

While people are advised to wear eye protection when looking at a solar eclipse, to avoid looking directly at the display, the blood moon is different.

For the upcoming red moon no safety measures are required.

This is because the lunar eclipse is a much dimmer light than the solar eclipse.
