Paul Price, 49, has been sedated ever since he and Detective Constable Elaine McIver (pictured
together, centre), 43, were blasted with shrapnel as they waited for his teenage daughter in the Manchester Arena foyer. Mr Price's father John, 79, wept yesterday as he told how his son was in a 'very dark place' after a bitter divorce before meeting Miss McIver (left). He said that Miss McIver, who Paul was planning to move in with, came into his life 'like an angel'. Father-of-two Mr Price suffered a broken leg, shrapnel injuries over his body and burns to his head and face.
He and Miss McIver had dropped his daughter and a friend off at the Ariana Grande concert before going to dinner. They were with other parents in the foyer when a nail and metal bolt bomb tore through the room, killing 12 and maiming dozens more. People around the world and in Manchester (top and bottom right) have been laying flowers and holding touching vigils for the victims.
