LAUTECH STUDENTS TOOK TO THE STREET OVER LONG CLOSURE OF INSTITUTION

Students of the Ladoke Akintola University Technology, Ogbomoso defied the early morning rain in Osogbo
on Thursday to continue the protest against stoppage of funding the institution and non-payment of their lecturers and other staff for the past eight months.
Hundreds of students of the institution started the protest on Wednesday and marched through the major streets to the State Secretariat. They later came to Olaiya Junction and blocked the roads causing heavy traffic snarl.
The students dismantled the barricades around 6:30pm but they converged again very early Thursday morning and marched from Olaiya Junction to the front of the Government House at Okefia.
The students, who marched under the rain sang anti government songs and vowed to continue with the protest until the governors of Oyo and Osun States accede to their demands.
The protest is coinciding with the climax of activities marking the 60th birthday of Governor Rajf Aregbesola.
Security personnel prevented the students from blocking the entrance to the Government House but the students gathered in front of Laro High School close to the Government House and continued with their protest.
