Taylor Swift 'in hiding' after rough year of feuds and break-ups...but is 'plotting return to spotlight as she gears up for upcoming album

Her outings in public have been few and far between after a tumultuous year of feuding and heartbreak.

And it turns out Taylor Swift's break from the spotlight has been no accident, according to a new report.

The 27-year-old star 'was trying to stay out of the media', a source told Us Weekly of the super star, who the website says is plotting her return as the release of her sixth album begins to take shape.

Last year Taylor feuded publicly with Kim Kardashian and her husband Kanye West over the rapper's song Famous, and broke up with Calvin Harris and Tom Hiddleston - but the singer is not planning on making her break a permanent one.

'Taylor's been quietly recording new music for a couple a months,' a source told the magazine. 'She's aiming to release an album this fall.'

The hit-maker hasn't been making new music in higher-profile arenas, with a source telling Us she 'hasn't been in any of the bigger studios in Nashville, New York, L.A., or London.'

The end of Taylor's high-profile, three-month long relationship with Tom marked the beginning of her retreat from the public eye.

Taylor did squeeze in some time for work earlier this year in January, filming the music video for her and Zayn Malik's song, I Don't Want To Live Forever.

But even then, she took some measures to ensure she wouldn't be spotted.

'She went directly to her private jet at two in the morning and flew out of town,' said a source.
