Former X Factor
star Lucie Jones is representing the UK this year. The 26-year-old
Welsh songstress is singing Never Give Up On You, and hopes to triumph
for her country, for the first time since Katrina and the Waves won the
contest in 1997.
The ex X Factor singer
was knocked out by two-time Eurovision contestants Jedward in 2009, and
since then has found big success in musical theatre.
Lucie
faces stiff competition though, as bookies have called Italy’s entry
Francesco Gabbani as the favourite this year thanks to his bizarre dance
routine with an ape.
The track
Occidental Karma is already a viral hit in Italy where it went gold
within a week, double platinum within the month and achieved 50 million
YouTube views.
Eurovision 2017 continues with the second semi final on Thursday night, on BBCFour.
