According to reports, Everton is seriously contemplating hiring former Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa to succeed dismissed manager Frank Lampard.
After a string of subpar performances that left Everton in 19th position out of 20 in the Premier League table, including the most recent, a 2-0 loss to West Ham at the London Stadium on Saturday, their third straight league loss, Lampard was sacked on Monday.
Out of the 20 games they have played thus far, they have also lost 11, tied 6, and won just 3.
They have the league's worst win total so far this season.
Although the club's efforts to avoid relegation last season were aided by the former Chelsea manager, he leaves Everton with only 15 out of 20 games.
"Everyone at Everton would like to thank Frank and his coaching staff for their service over what has been a hard 12 months," read a statement from the club.
Throughout their tenure at the club, Frank and his team have demonstrated an exceptional level of passion and dedication, but due to recent results and the team's standing in the league, it was necessary to make this tough choice.
We wish Frank and everyone in his backroom staff well in the future of the sport.
The club has begun the search for a new manager and will offer information on the appointment as they become available.
In the meantime, Sky Sports reported that Bielsa, who has been jobless since leaving Leeds in February of last year, has already spoken with the club's hierarchy about taking over and has expressed his desire to do so.
The Toffees' following match isn't until Sunday, February 4, when top-of-the-table Arsenal comes to Goodison Park.
