Police Arraign 8 Suspected Cultists

Eight men who purportedly threatened individuals from the general population, were on Monday brought under the watchful eye of an Ogudu Magistrates' Court in Lagos by the Police. 


The men are recorded as Olarigbe Olanrewaju, 22; Moses Ademola, 23; Evans Ezekiel, 20; Taiwo Oluwasegun, 19; Ganiyu Bashiru, 21; Wasiu Balogun, 29; Sunday Omete, 24; and Tunde James, 20. 

The men were asserted to have conveyed hazardous weapons in a way to cause a break of harmony in the Oke-Iranle region of Ajah, in Lagos. 

They are confronting a three-tally charge of trick, enrollment of an unlawful society and unlawful presentation of arms in people in general.

He said that the eight denounced, contrived with themselves as individuals from Eiye Confraternity and drawn in themselves in a battle with another gathering of obscure young men with risky weapons. 

"A few individuals from general society likewise supported genuine wounds while a few properties were decimated. 

"They were captured by a group of police men, driven by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Langbasa Division, Ajah and exchanged to the Anti-Cultism Unit, State CID, Yaba on Nov. 9'' Ihiehie said. 

The examiner said the offenses negated Sections 42 (a), 51 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, (Revised). 

The case was suspended until Dec. 18 for notice.
