Officials Narrowly Escape Death As Fire Guts EFCC Office In Abuja

As indicated by a Punch Metro report, no less than two people barely gotten away passing while gear worth a large number of naira was harmed after a fire occurrence at the old head office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in the Wuse 2 region of Abuja on Monday.

Despite the fact that the reason for the fire couldn't be found out as of press time, it was discovered that the fire begun from the ICT division which once in the past filled in as the newsroom.

The EFCC said in an announcement by its acting representative, Mr. Tony Orilade, that the harm would have been more terrible notwithstanding the opportune landing of men of the Federal Fire Service.

The firefighters driven by the Sector Commander, Melone Onyekachi, touched base at the scene when the administration was alarmed to the fire by the Incident Duty Officer of the commission, Kayode Oyetunde, at 7pm.

The announcement read to some extent, "The fire began at the previous newsroom, which currently fills in as a capacity for ICT hardware that was recovered from the commission's previous workplaces scattered crosswise over Abuja.

"The previous newsroom is in the Costa Hall, which was initiated by Dr. Antonio Costa in 2007. The building as of now houses the Data Center and the Combined Inter-Agency Task Force."

At the point when asked what could have caused the fire, Onyekachi stated, "Our obligation is to put out flame; that we have effectively done. There is another division that will come and find out the reason for the fire."

As indicated by the announcement, two officers connected to the Combined Inter-Agency Task Force who was caught on the second floor of the building were protected before the fire was inevitably repressed. The degree of the harm would be found out after stock-taking.

The Commission's Chief Security Officer, Nasir Abdullahi, quickly after the fire was halted, went to the Maitama Police Station to report.
