Charlie, who is now known as Imogen, starred on Friday’s episode of the ITV series after her former girlfriend’s mother Jo had supposedly put a stop to visits to her two children after deeming her "not fit" for access.
When she was living as Charlie, she had children with Penny, yet had not spent time with them since January.
Imogen explained it was a year since she had her first consultation with her specialists in London.
In a chat with host Jeremy Kyle, Imogen said: “I am their dad regardless of gender.
“I am on both their birth certificates. It is my parental right to do right by my kids.”
Jezza quizzed how Imogen had broken the news to the schoolchildren, and whether it had “confused” them.
Imogen replied: “That’s not even a question mate I adore my kids.
“My kids are fine and I’ve explained it to them.
“They still call me dad or they can call me Imogen, either.”
