Sultan Orders Closure Of All Mosques In Abuja Over Coronavirus

The President-General, Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alh. Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar and furthermore the Sultan of Sokoto, on Monday requested the quick shutdown of all mosques in the Federal Capital domain (FCT). 


The advancement is in accordance with the endeavors of the Federal Government to stem the consistent spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). 

An announcement in Abuja and made accessible to The Nation, by the NSCIA, Director of Administration, Alh. Yusuf Nwoha stated: "the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) under the initiative of its President General, Alh. Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, and Sultan of Sokoto, after discussions with Muslim Scholars and other significant partners, has today the 23rd March, 2020 arranged the prompt shutdown of all mosques in the Federal Capital region. 

"As hard as this choice may be, it became important that Muslims should hold hands with Government and its Agencies in the continued battle against the spread of the destructive COVID 19 which the World Health Organization (WHO) has since pronounced a pandemic. 

"The choice to shut down mosques isn't strange to Islamic convention and culture as it could be followed to the hour of our honorable Prophet (S.A.W). In such circumstance, the (Mu'adhdhin) is approached to educate the adherents to supplicate in their homes. 

"The NSCIA, along these lines, requests the participation of the Imams and all Muslims in the FCT to guarantee consistence to this order all things considered in light of a legitimate concern for one and all. May Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala help humankind to stop the spread of this destructive sickness over all the ensure every one of us, ameen".
