THE Civil Liberties Organization, CLO, Southeast Zone, has
raised 12 questions for the immediate past and incumbent governors of Anambra
State, Mr. Peter Obi and Chief Willie Obiano, on the management and application
of funds...
CLO said: “It has become very imperative for former Governor Peter
Obi, who is campaigning for his former Secretary to the State Government, Mr.
Oseloka Obaze, as candidate of his new party the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,
and Governor Obiano, who is seeking re-election on the platform of All
Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, to answer the questions so that the people
of the state will have confidence. Peter Obi Rising from a quarterly meeting of
its Zonal Management Committee, held in Awka, which was attended by the
chairmen and secretaries of the five Southeast states, with the Zonal Chairman,
Comrade Aloysius Attah, the CLO said they were demanding urgent answers from
the duo on 12 issues concerning their administrations. Chief Willie Obiano The
12 questions include their use of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)
funds; the Universal Basic Education (UBEC) Account; the Subsidy Reinvestment
and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P) Account; the 75 Billion Naira handed over by
Obi to Obiano. Others are security votes issue; the million dollars vegetable
export controversy; the Foreign Direct Investments; the FGN Contract Refunds;
the issue of godfatherism; the N10Billion Campaign Fund; the Fund Released by
the FG for Oko-Nanka Erosion Control; and the Umueri Airport Project: CLO said it
needed clarifications to the said questions because of suspected mismanagement
and misapplication of funds which had caused unnecessary controversy. “The
answers to these questions are, therefore, necessary in order to set the
records straight ahead of the November 18 gubernatorial poll in Anambra State
so that the people of the state will know why they need their votes.” …sues for
