 Every outfit in Undercover’s spring/summer 2018 collection was reversible. Jun Takahashi presented each of them in all their double-sided glory on models eerily walking hand-in-hand through the gilded ballroom of Le Grand, wearing each other’s insides out....
“She has two faces,” he said backstage, referring to his friend Cindy Sherman, who had first inspired the idea. Since their friendship began some six years ago, Takashi had detected a contrast between Sherman’s work and her personality, and it mystified him. He printed her self-portraits in the style of all-American Fifties housewives on his sweet (and evil) dresses, cut in the mid-century silhouette.
