Maria Grazia Chiuri organized an additional show of Dior spring/summer couture collection in The Land of the Rising Sun to celebrate the opening of Dior flagship store in Ginza Six mall.
These creations had already been shown at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week ,but the new show proved that the designer had an ace up sleeve. Alongside the regular collection, some additional looks from a special capsule called “Le jardin japonais” were shown at the runway. There were two key motifs: first, sakura blooming, second, Jardin Japonais outfit designed by Christian Dior in 1953. Japanese culture is an integral part of Dior DNA. Dior Granville patrimonial estate’s panels have some embellishments inspired by Japanese artists Utamaro and Hokusai. As you know, the interiors of the family villa have always been a major inspiration source for the great couturier.
