Leather Institute Boss Seeks Patronage Of Home-Made Products

Acting Director-General, Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology (NILEST), Zaria, Dr Eucharia Oparah, has advocate its commitment to the federal government’s policy on the need to patronize made-in-Nigeria goods and products “so as to reduce unemployment rate rocking our economy”...

Oparah stated this recently when she received Officials of the Financial System Strategy (FSS 2020) and Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) on a courtesy visit to the Institute.
She said the Institute was the only one in Nigeria and the whole of the sub-Saharan Africa that had the mandate of training of middle and lower levels of manpower for leather and leather products.
“We have the capacity to produce all kinds of footwear and other leather products for military, para-military, the police and other accessories,” she said.
She expressed delight on the visit, saying it would further open more opportunities for her Institute to synergies with the visiting agencies towards the diversification of the nation’s economy and creation job opportunities for the team youth in the country.
In their separate remarks, officials of the agencies said their visit was to seek partnership with the Institute on job creation in order to discourage restiveness and reduce crime.
They stated that the federal government was committed in fighting unemployment poverty eradication.
