British designer Clare Waight Keller presented her last collection for the French fashion house Chloe at Paris Fashion Week. During her six-year-long collaboration with Chloe Clare showcased a keen understanding of its philosophy that resulted in minimalistic ultra-feminine looks.
The farewell fall/winter collection was no exception.Clare’s retro garments with a psychedelic vibe were inspired by “Yellow Submarine”, an animated film dedicated to The Beatles, by George Dunning. The designer described the mood of the collection as “psychedelic optimism”. We guess she has found the right wording for this perky, infantile and light looks. The silhouettes were a mix of the designer’s favorite sixties and seventies and the nineties, a hot trend of the past few seasons: Twiggy style A-shaped dresses and playful Mary Jane shoes, masculine cut pants suits and blouses with voluminous sleeves, bows and frills, hippie pinafore dresses, oversize hoodies and color block track pants, flowing mini slip dresses paired with bright and cozy angora sweaters, capes and short A-silhouette coats. The palette consisted of natural shades, such as green, dark blue, brown, blue and yellow, enhanced by some surrealistic patterns and neon insets of turquoise, violet and red. Messy hairstyle and wet black eyeliner were a perfect match to the provocative outfits. So, this fall Chloe suggests combining British elegance and French charm!
In the end of the show Miroslava Duma, Isabelle Huppert, Solange Knowles, Olivia Palermo, Clemence Poesy and other famous supporters of the brand stood up to pay obeisance to Clare’s creative history at Chloe with their applause.
