Rotary Club Donates Wheelchairs, Neonatal Kits, Others

The Rotary Club of Festac Central has donated steel wheelchairs to two individuals to enhance their mobility. The club also gave neonatal kits to 50 expectant mothers and cheques to five beneficiaries to kick-start their businesses...

The donations were made at Amuwo Odofin Maternal and Child Centre during the visit of the District Governor, District 9110, Dr. Adewale Ogunbadejo, to the area.
Visibly moved by the condition of the beneficiaries, Ogunbadejo reaffirmed the club’s commitment to the eradication of polio in Nigeria and the world at large. He said the successes recorded against the scourge must be sustained, even in the embattled northern part of the country.

He urged the club not to confine themselves to their community but continue their humanitarian efforts and embark on more projects in other communities lacking social amenities.

Receiving a wheelchair, a lawyer, Abdulsalam Idowu, expressed his happiness at the gift, noting that it would greatly enhance his mobility, restore his confidence and self-respect.
He, however, called on the Lagos State and Federal Government to ensure special access to public buildings are created for physically challenged individuals in the country.The club later donated educational materials to Lady Atinuke Memorial Home for the physically challenged individuals.
