One of Malone's remarkable talents in his ability to translate inspiration found in his hometown of Wexford, Ireland - this season, the diverse mix of women he would see at the local pub - and translate them into elegantly-constructed garments that are simultaneously sculptural and easy to wear. “It’s taking pub dressing and elevating it,” he explained of this collection. “Not making it look like a picture of a pub, but reflecting the fact that you get all sorts of different people from different backgrounds socialising there.” So, strappy dresses and bra tops made an appearance, but so did flowing dresses with dimensional, concertina pleats and workwear tailoring. “When I was growing up there was an opera festival in Wexford every year, so you’d see the formal clothes that people would wear to that muddled up with the locals wearing their work uniforms,” he says – and such a blend was visibly apparent here.
