Over three thousand Catholic men from
the Lagos Archdiocese gathered at St. Gregory College South West, Ikoyi
from August 10th-13th for four days to seek the face of God regarding
the situation of Nigeria and its well-being...
With the theme of the convention tagged,
‘The master is here waiting for you’ picked from John 7 vs 21, the men
came from all the Catholic parishes in Lagos to join their faith
together to ask God to have mercy on Nigeria and change the present
economy and insecurity situation of the nation. The Vicar General, Lagos
Island and Mainland, Very Reverend Monsignor Bernard Okodua who
represented the Archbishop of Lagos as chief host of the induction
ceremony and 15th Anniversary Mass while delivering his homily said that
that Christian fathers should learn to serve God with their heart by
having a strong faith in their God instead of behaving like Syncretic
Christians who indulge in the act of serving God and mammoths at the
same time. He urged Christian fathers to live responsible Christians
lives worthy of emulation so that children can have good Christian
morals to grow up with. He advised the CMO members to be up and doing in
the affairs of the nation so that good leadership can return to our
nation.
The President, Lagos Archdiocese
Catholic Men Organisation, Mr. John Aigbohoade told journalists that the
organisation decided to pray for the nation because it is only when
there is peace in the land that there will be peace in our homes. The
four days annual convention was aimed at praying for Christians and
family and the nation. The convention helped our men to be renewed
spiritually as Catholic priests were invited to enlighten our members on
how to be close to God.
Awards were given to 12 persons for
their selfish commitment to the organization while four priests were
given pastoral award. The Convention planning Chairman, Mr. Emmanuel
Iweha said that this year event witnessed a lot of activities like Night
Vigil, business empowerment talk, medical health talk, Spiritual talks
and daily Mass which has really helped members to come closer to God
after four days of spiritual renewal.
