The Ondo State
government has promised to revive the Araromi new stadium acquired at a
whopping sum of N3billion which was said to have been abandoned by the
immediate past administration of Dr Olusegun Mimiko, with a promise to
build it to Olympic-size...
The state commissioner for Youths and
Sports Development, Saka Yusuf Ogunleye said the project was one of
those embarked upon by the late Dr Olusegun Agagu when he was governor
of the state.
According to him the stadium was abandoned for eight years and there is need to bring it back to life.
The Araromi new stadium, he said was a project with 50 percent mobilization paid by the late former governor, Olusegun Agagu.
Ogunleye said that the administration was committed to building a stadium that will befit the state.
The commissioner, who was on an
inspection of government facilities at the Akure Township Stadium, the
Ondo State Football Agency (OSFA) and the NYSC orientation camp, Ikare,
expressed the readiness of the present administration to develop
sporting activities in the state.
“We will bring back most of our
abandoned sporting activities. The Principal Cup, the Inter school
matches, we are bringing them all back,” he said.
