The Speaker of Adamawa State House of
Assembly, Kabiru Mijinyawa, representing Yola South, on Monday escaped
impeachment but his deputy, Sunday Peter and three other principal
officers of the Assembly were sacked...
The removal of the principal officers of
the Adamawa State Assembly, followed a motion moved by Muhammed Hayatu,
a member representing the Uba-Gaya state constituency on Monday after
the house reconvened from its six weeks’ recess.
The motion, for the no confidence vote
was seconded by Hon. Abdulrahman Abubakar, Mubi South constituency, who
said the removed officers failed in their assignment to foster unity
through selfless leadership.
Those sacked after the motion were
Peter, (Guyuk state constituency), the Majority Leader, Musa Mahmud,
the Minority Leader, Mayo Belwa, Hon. Justina Nkom, (Lamurde
Constituency), the Chief Whip, Isa Yahya, (Maiha Constituency) and the
Deputy Majority Leader, Muhammed Mutawalli, who is representing Girei
constituency.
The lawmakers followed up their action
by immediately electing Emmanuel Tsamdu, Madagali state constituency, as
the new Deputy Speaker.
While Hassan Barguma, (Hong
constituency), Lumsambani Dilli, (Demsa State constituency) and Abubakar
Isa, (Shelleng), took over the reins of the offices of the Majority
Leader, Minority Leader and Chief Whip, respectively.
According to Lumsambani Dilli, the
lawmakers carried out the change of the principal officers to rejig the
leadership, following the discovery that the ousted principal officers
were allegedly responsible for the lacklustre leadership of the
Assembly.
